Public Hearing on Proposed Expansion of the Horry County Class 3 Landfill
DHEC’s Bureau of Land and Waste Management (BLWM) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 6:30 pm, to accept comments on the proposed expansion of the Horry County Class 3 Landfill. This event is being held in-person at the Horry County Government Building (Conference Rooms B, C, and E) located at 1301 2nd Avenue in Conway. An informal Question & Answer session with DHEC staff will be held immediately following the public hearing.
The technical application, draft permit, and other relevant documents may be viewed on DHEC’s ePermitting website here. Comments may be submitted through May 16, 2023, via the ePermitting website, by email at koonjt@dhec.sc.gov, or by U.S. Mail to:

Next Steps
Comments on the technical application and draft permit for the Class 3 Landfill expansion will be accepted by DHEC through close of business on May 16, 2023. Once the comment period closes, DHEC will review all comments and determine if any modifications need to be made to the technical application or draft permit. After all comments are addressed, DHEC will make a final decision to either approve or deny the technical application and draft permit.

Public Hearing on Proposed Expansion of the Horry County Class 3 Landfill - June 11, 2020
DHEC held a public hearing to accept comments on the proposed Class 2 Landfill expansion on June 11, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 guidelines restricting in-person meetings effective at the time of the notice, the public hearing was held virtually using an online platform to provide interested persons the ability to participate remotely.
