Below is a quick guide to your heart-healthy numbers:

Blood Pressure

  • Systolic (or top number) - less than 120 mmHg
  • Diastolic (or bottom number) - less than 80 mmHg

Cholesterol

  • Total Cholesterol - less than 200 mg/dL
  • LDL "Bad" Cholesterol - less than 100 mg/dL
  • HDL "Good" Cholesterol – Women: 50 mg/dL or higher. Men: 40 mg/dL or higher
  • Triglycerides - less than 150 mg/dL

Fasting Glucose

  • Should be less than 100 mg/dL

Body Mass Index (BMI)

  • Aim for a BMI of less than 25

Waist Size

  • Women - 35 inches or less
  • Men - 40 inches or less
