What is SCIONx

What is SCIONx?

SCIONx is a web-based system that allows physicians, nurses, and lab professionals to notify DHEC when a patient has any of the required reportable diseases. It is designed to make fulfilling this important provider responsibility as quick and simple as possible.

SCIONx is used to report most reportable diseases, but SCIONx is currently not used to report Tuberculosis or Lead.

How Does SCIONx Work?

The health care provider submits a report to the local public health department. The local public health department investigates the report, and then sends it on to the DHEC Central Office in Columbia.

A DHEC specialist reviews the investigation, making sure that it meets the case definition. The report is then forwarded to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control with a click of a button.
